Garden Wisdom

The garden holds much wisdom. It teaches life lessons if you only stay quiet enough to hear what it has to say. One of these lessons is patience, patience for the perpetually revolving pattern of flowers to unfold. First the snowdrops and crocus, then the daffodils and tulips, followed by the iris and other spring blooms, and so on. So often gardeners will have a visitor and hear themselves say “Oh, if only you had been here last week, the garden was filled with...” Yes, it’s hard to plan with a garden, it decides its own schedule. Right now I am anxious for the tight little buds on the peonies and roses to open in full bloom. But I must be patient. They will do so in their own time. Meanwhile it is more than enough to fully enjoy the beauty of the many irises that are giving me such a pretty showing at the moment. The moment. Be in the moment.
