Shovels, Sweets and Sand Pails at Sunny Seaside Shops

When you tire of the beach at Westward Ho! you can always do a little shopping at the nearby shops. You'll find everything you need for a day by the sea. Fun-coloured pails and shovels (or should I say spades) to make sand castles, traditional rock candy with the name of the town that magically never disappears to the very last bite, and walls of old-fashioned loose sweets. Makes me nostalgic for those childhood trips to the sea, where we spent the day listening to the seagulls while playing in the sand or being tossed by the waves.

Easter Pastels

Easter baskets reminiscent of the soft pastel-coloured baskets of my childhood. How lucky to find so many matching coloured sweets to fill them.

The Candy Store

This has to be my favourite candy shop, as much for the decor as for the candy. The wallpaper and wall colour (lighter and brighter than in these photos) are as pretty as the pastel coloured sweets and what's really lovely is how sparse the shop is. So often every space in a shop is filled with merchandise, creating a sense of overload. This store is "eye candy" in every sense of the word.
